The Rotary Club of New Kingston (RCNK) once again demonstrated its commitment to community service when it successfully staged its Annual Health Fair on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Constant Spring Primary and Infant School. The event proved to be a meaningful day of service, partnership, and fellowship, leaving a tangible impact on students, parents, and staff alike.

From as early as 7:30 a.m., the school grounds were alive with activity as students and parents arrived in anticipation of the services on offer. By the end of the day, approximately 150 students and parents had been registered and served—an impressive turnout that underscored the community’s trust in and support for the initiative.

The Health Fair delivered a wide range of essential services aimed at promoting preventative care and overall well-being. A total of 71 students benefitted from dental cleanings, while 70 students had their eyes tested, with several receiving much-needed reading glasses. Pharmacy services were accessed by 28 individuals, and 37 persons took advantage of HIV and Syphilis testing, reinforcing the importance of early detection and informed health choices.

RCNK expressed deep appreciation to its service partners whose collaboration made the event possible. These included the UWI Mona School of Dentistry, the Lions Club of New Kingston, Bashy Bus, and Dr. Thorbourne, who provided pharmacy services. Special thanks were also extended to the six doctors who volunteered their time and expertise throughout the day: Professor Reid, Dr. Dowe, Dr. Preston, Dr. Mohansingh, Prospective Member Dr. Ferguson, and Dr. Hunter of the Rotary Club of Trafalgar New Heights.

A special commendation was given to two nursing students from the UWI School of Nursing, whose tireless efforts and professionalism played a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of services.
The Club also acknowledged its donors and supporters, whose generosity took many forms—financial contributions, medical and dental supplies, pharmaceuticals, transportation, and even music that kept the atmosphere vibrant and welcoming. Their collective support powered the Health Fair and contributed significantly to its success.

In addition to health screenings and services, the day also focused on building long-term capacity within the school community. Eleven teachers from Constant Spring Primary and Infant School participated in CPR training facilitated by the Heart Foundation, enhancing the school’s emergency preparedness and response capability.

The 2025 RCNK Annual Health Fair stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved through collaboration, compassion, and service. It reaffirmed the Rotary Club of New Kingston’s commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities—one meaningful initiative at a time.
