Q: What is your current Job and where do you work?
A: I am a Lecturer and Consultant Chemical Pathologist in the Department of Pathology at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.
 


Q: Please tell us about the schools you’ve attended and degrees/certifications earned.
A: York Castle High School, Titchfield High School, The University of the West Indies, The University of Surrey, UK.
  • Post Graduate Certificate in University Teaching (UWI)
  • Bachelor of Science (Hons) (double major) (BSc) in Biochemistry and Zoology (UWI)
  • Master of Science (MSc) in Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (University of Surrey)
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry (PhD) - (UWI Mona)
     


Q: How long have you been a Rotarian?
A: 5 years



Q: Please tell us about your service history.
A: I served as President of the Watt Town Police Youth Club prior to joining Rotary. As a University student, I also participated numerous outreach activities with varying early childhood educational institutions in Kingston & St. Andrew especially with the Kintyre Basic School.
 


Q: How did your Rotary journey start?
A: With the Introduction to the RCNK by PP John Lindo who invited me to a meeting. The dynamism of the club and fellowship therein was a drawing factor.


 


Q: Please tell us about previous positions held in RCNK.
A: Secretary (2017-2018)
 


Q: What would you say has been your greatest service accomplishment?
A: All the projects that we have done with different early childhood educational institutions both within and outside of the corporate area have proven to be significant in terms of the needs that were satisfied. Whether it is the provision of resource learning materials, provision and upgrade of the water and sanitary infrastructure or helping an institution to attain self-sustainability by creation of a vegetable garden or just simply reading to students.


 

 
Q: Tell us something we would not know about Lowell.
A: My entire family is athletic. I was Captain of my community’s corner league football for 2 years and I play about 6 sports including golf and squash.
 


Q: What are your guiding principles?
A: Treat others how you would like to be treated.
 


Q: Where are you from originally?
A: Watt Town, St. Ann.



Q: What do you love most about RCNK?
A: The dynamism, good camaraderie and the spread of members within different age cohorts in the club offers varying points of view on any issue.


 


Q: How many siblings do you have?
A: 6
 


Q: How many children? Boy or girl.
A: 1.5 girls. Yes, I have 1.5 children.
 


Q: How do you unwind? Night in, night out?
A: Either, once there is single malt scotch and good company present.


 


Q: What genre of music do you listen?
A: All. I used to own a sound system so I have to listen and know them all.
 


Q: Last book you read or types of books you read.
A: Last book read – ‘The One Thing’. Types of books I read - Clinical Chemistry Journals.
 


Q: What five words best describe you?
A: Motivated, dedicated, driven, reliable, and problem-solver.
 


Q: What keeps you motivated?
A: The thrill of living, the desire to improve and grow my family as well as those with whom I come in contact.
 


Q: ‘Rotary Connects the World’ is our RI 2019-2020 theme … How has Rotary connected your world?
A: Living by ‘Service Above Self’ and practicing same has resulted in Rotary being the connecting factor in all aspects of my world. Academic, social and professional life are all connected once Rotary’s principles are adhered to.
 


Q: ‘Serve Humanity Secure Our Future’ is our District 7020 2019-2020 theme … How will your year highlight this theme?  
A: Our planned projects are geared at improving communities but more importantly, they will ensure and facilitate sustainable community development. We not only aim to undertake projects geared at positively impacting communities currently, but to do so in a well thought out manner that takes the next generation into consideration. Important factors to consider include the impact of projects on the environment, food and water security, availability of clean air and violence prevention.
