The Rotary Club of New Kingston proudly announces the installation of President Dorrett Campbell and her board during a splendid banquet held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on Friday, June 28, 2024. The event was graced by esteemed Guest Speaker Senator Donna Scott-Mottley, who delivered an inspiring address highlighting the importance of building mutually beneficial relationships that transcend political and personal biases.President Dorrett Campbell, stepping into her role as the 35th President of the Rotary Club of New Kingston, expressed her deep honor and humility in her speech titled "Embracing the Magic of Rotary." She acknowledged the legacy of excellence established by past Rotarians, highlighting the trailblazing contributions of women leaders within such as Sylvia Whitlock and the late Rose Marie Gibbs – a past president of the club - whose efforts paved the way for women in Rotary.
President Campbell outlined her vision for the year, anchored on five strategic pillars:
- Stewardship: The club will focus on impactful community service projects in education, health, and the environment.
- Membership and Engagement: Efforts will be made to attract passionate new members and keep existing ones engaged through tailored mentorship programs and interactive meetings.
- Partnerships: Collaboration with other Rotary clubs and community organizations will be key to amplifying the club’s impact on pressing health and literacy needs.
- Leadership and Mentorship: The club will provide training and mentorship opportunities, nurturing the next generation of leaders within Rotary and the broader community.
- Fellowship: Strengthening bonds among members through social events, team-building activities, and recognition programs to enhance camaraderie and club growth.
Senator Mottley’s words resonated deeply with the audience as she urged service clubs, particularly the Rotary Club of New Kingston, to find its relevance in nation-building by forging partnerships and serving for the good of the whole.
